The Institute of Digital Life and Ephemera – IDLE

IDLE was created in 2016 to address the increasing ephemerality of digital culture. Digital technologies allow us to create and share content across the globe more easily than ever before, but that culture is at risk of being lost for future generations. Follow us in our important archiving work, looking to rebuild the global storytelling archive following the 2020 solar flare. This Fiction is the backdrop for the pictured Storybox, which was created to engage a set of storytellers to generate aural narratives as re-beginnings of the IDLE archive.

The IDLE project stems from a collaboration between Liz Evans at the Department of Culture, Film and Media and Holger Schnädelbach and Hyosun Kwon at the Mixed Reality Lab, Computer Science (both at the University of Nottingham).

IDLE was funded by the University of Nottingham Digital Research Project.
